
The Central Information Commission
- The Central Information Commission has been constituted effective from 12-10-2005 under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
 - Heeralal Samariya is currently working as the Chief Information Commissioner of India
 - It is not a constitutional but a statutory body
 - The Central Information Commission is composed of a Chief Information Commissioner and up to 10 Information Commissioners
 - The Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners are appointed by the President of India
 - The Prime Minister chairs the selection committee.
 - It includes the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and a Union Cabinet Minister nominated by the Prime Minister.
 - The Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners serve for a term serve a term of 3 years or until reaching 65 years
 - They are not eligible for reappointment after completing their term
 - Their salary, allowances, and other service conditions are set by the Central Government.
