
DRDO
- The organization was established in 1958 through the merger of three entities: the Technical Development Establishment (TDE), the Directorate of Technical Development and Production (DTDP), and the Defence Science Organisation (DSO).
- It is headed by the Secretary of Defence Research and Development, who also serves as the Director General (DG) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- It operates 53 laboratories across India, which work in close collaboration with the Armed Forces, industries, and academic institutions to advance defence technologies and innovation.
BRAHMAPUTRA
- The river is known by different names as it flows through various regions.
- In Tibet, it is called the Yarlung Tsangpo; in India, it is known as the Dihang in Arunachal Pradesh and the Brahmaputra in Assam; and in Bangladesh, it is referred to as the Jamuna.
- The Brahmaputra originates from the Chemayungdung Glacier near Mount Kailash in Tibet.
- It is separated from the Manasarovar Lake by the Mariam La Pass.
- Upon entering India through Arunachal Pradesh, it is known as the Dihang and merges with the Lohit and Dibang rivers to become the Brahmaputra.
- As it enters Bangladesh, it is called the Jamuna and eventually merges with the Ganga River to form the Sunderbans delta.
- The major left-bank tributaries of the Brahmaputra include the Dibang, Lohit, Burhi Dihing, and Dhansiri rivers, while its right-bank tributaries are the Subansiri, Manas, Teesta, and Kameng rivers.
- One of the major existing dams on the Brahmaputra is the Zam Hydropower Station in China, which has been operational since 2015.
LOKPAL
- Lokpal is a statutory body formed under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013 to investigate corruption complaints against certain public officials.
- It consists of a chairperson and 8 Members and 4 must be Judicial Members.
- The Chairperson can be a former Chief Justice of India, Supreme Court Judge, or a qualified eminent person.
- Judicial Members must be former Supreme Court Judges or Chief Justices of High Courts.
- At least 50% of Members must be from SC/ST/OBC, minorities, or women.
- Term of office of the Lokpal is 5 years or until 70 years of age, whichever is earlier.
